New York Soil Test Summaries

The Cornell Nutrient Analyses Laboratory annually analyzes 20,000 to 25,000 samples for commercial production as well as for homes and gardens. In January of 2003, we embarked on a project that aimed to summarize the soil fertility status of 56 New York State counties using 1995-2001 data. After 18 months of work, the last 1995-2001 soil fertility summaries were finished in July 2004. In June 2007, we started our second series of summaries (2002-2006 CNAL data) and completed the series with the New York City soil test summary in March 2008:

Many of the summaries feature pictures and county introductions written by field crops and/or horticulture extension educators and Cornell staff. Thanks to all that participated in putting these summaries together! This series was awarded the "Outstanding New Publication Award" by the NYS Association of County Agricultural Extension Educators (NYSACAA).
