Projects sponsored in part by the Northern New York Agriculture Development Program

The Northern New York Agricultural Development Program (NNYADP) selects and prioritizes research the results of which can be practically applied to farms in the six-county region of Northern New York: Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton, and Essex counties.

A farmer panel oversees program direction. The farmer members represent the diverse aspects of Northern NY agriculture, including dairying, and crop, beef, vegetable and organic grain production. The Program's Co-Chairs are Jon Greenwood of Greenwood Dairy in Canton and dairyman Joe Giroux of Plattsburgh. R. David Smith of Cornell University provides program coordination.

The Northern New York Agricultural Development Program is supported by the New York State Senate, and through the long-term sponsorship of Senator James W. Wright, and by Senator Elizabeth O'C. Little, and Assemblyman Darrel Aubertine. The Program also receives support - funds, time, land, expertise, etc. - from Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Cornell¹s Agricultural Experiment Station, W. H. Miner Institute, the E. V. Baker Research Farm in Willsboro, the Cooperative Extension Learning Farm in Canton, the six Northern New York Cornell Cooperative Extension associations, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, cooperating farmers, and others.
